Our unique online activities help low to high intermediate level English students learn high frequency words as efficiently as possible while improving their listening skills and knowledge about a range of topical issues. The reports are carefully selected from Voice Of America, Behind The News (both more suitable for low intermediate to intermediate level) and ABC’s The World Today (more suitable for intermediate to high intermediate) and include links to an audio and a transcript. The activities for each story are designed to be completed in easy to follow, sequential steps within approximately 45 minutes.

You grab the word, and we help you learn it!

grab First you choose a story and then grab the words you want to focus on. They could be words you don’t know or ones you do know but would like more practice with.

listen Each story links to an audio file which is about 4-5 minutes long. Before you listen, read a few questions to help you focus on what the report is about. This will help you to understand it.

questions After you listen, check that you have understood key details from the report by answering some questions. You can check your answers by clicking on the ‘Answers’ button. Or even better, read through the transcript.
